EN Prague's Slovan Bohnice track hosted the 3rd and 4th races of the Czech BMX Cup last weekend, which was also included in the international category C2. This status entails increased organizational demands, but the Bohnica crew coped with them perfectly. The great weather forecast promised ideal conditions and right from the first rides it was clear that we were in for bmx racing of the highest level. On Saturday, 369 riders participated, and on Sunday, 354. The packed area created a great atmosphere. Saturday's program followed exactly according to the schedule and there were no serious incidents. The biggest crowd draw was the packed Men Junior/U23/Elite combined category. It offered sharp fights already in the heats, which culminated in a great final, in which the fight was literally elbow to elbow. In the end, Chudob took the Saturday triumph before Cidlinski and Stloukal. Sunday's races brought a new challenge in the form of the weather. Temperatures rose even higher than on Saturday and the combination of fatigue and sudden heat resulted in an increased number of falls. Fortunately, all caroms were avoided without serious injuries and we will see most of the drivers at the next races. The culmination of Sunday's program in the Men Junior/U23/Elite elite category once again offered a great atmosphere and gold was won by Gruntorád, silver by Chudoba and bronze by Vesecký. The Challenge categories also offered an extremely interesting spectacle. Fifteen drivers confirmed their 100% weekend dominance and were able to win on both Saturday and Sunday. Pikalová, Roškotová, Houška, Tejmarová, Štěpánek, Průcha, Čálek, Matys, Hošková, Souček, Vejchododa, Kalábová, Lapka, Košárková and Peterek celebrated the golden double. They showed great sporting performance and created a challenge for their opponents in the next rounds of the cup. Overall, the weekend left a great impression on the participants and the delegated French judge was also satisfied. In addition, the local organizers could also celebrate a sporting success, when their riders collected a respectable 21 podium positions. The Czech Cup continues, but you can already mark the date 3-4 in your calendars. October 2026, when the legendary autumn Bohnická Fašírka and the evening Holeshot with traditionally the highest financial rewards of the year will be held on this track. Sunday then culminates with the prestigious Grand Prix, the winners of which receive immortality on a traveling cup alongside BMX legends.
