EN Once the Challenge Drivers' World Championship was over, it was time for the Championship categories. They had an official training session on Friday and a subsequent qualifying race on Saturday, from which the best ones advanced to the final day on Sunday. The weather was a significant factor this past weekend. Mistrovství světa The nominated competitors who wore the Czech national team jersey at this year's World Championships were Elen Lapková (Women Junior), Sabina Košárková (Women Under 23), Eliška Bartuňková (Women Elite), Viktor Oldřich Chudoba, Vít Gruntorád (both Men Junior) and Marek Neužil (Men Under 23). They were also joined by Jakub Cidlinský and Jakub Vesecký (both Men Under 23). Junior Vít Novotný was originally supposed to start at the WC, but he injured his knee in training for the European Championship and this injury did not allow him to start at the WC. He was replaced by Vít Gruntorád. As mentioned in the introduction, the weather played quite a role throughout the week. The first unofficial practice of the Championships categories went according to plan, but the second day practice had to be canceled due to heavy rain and a very soft track surface. The riders thus got another opportunity to familiarize themselves with the track only during Friday's official training, which was followed by Saturday's warm-up. Despite all the efforts of the organizers, the track was softer due to the rain during the weekend. We did not do very well on the men's side of our national team. Gruntorád, Cidlinský and Vesecký did not make it through the qualifying round, respectively. from LCQ. On the contrary, Neužil and Chudoba managed their corrective run and advanced to the 1/8 finals. This put a stop to Chudob, for whom the race was over. For that, Neužil showed a fighting performance, and thus advanced to the Sunday part of the race. However, he was unable to advance from his quarter-final run and finished 17th overall. For that, all three girls managed to fight their way into Sunday's fights for championship titles. Elen Lapková put the fall from the advancing place in the qualifying race behind her head. Sabina Košárková confirmed her role as the favorite to win and Eliška Bartuňková showed a very fighting performance, which also advanced her to Sunday's race. Unfortunately, the gates of the semifinals closed for Bartuńková and Lapková, and both ended up in the quarterfinals. Košárková made her way to the final relatively easily, in which unfortunately she did not have a good start. She was unable to correct her mistake and finished seventh overall among U23 women. The results could have been better, but each of the representatives showed a fighting performance.
