EN The BMX Commission of the Czech Cycling Association has launched a series of coaching workshops aimed at the education and development of coaches and riders from Czech BMX clubs, as well as the leaders of these clubs. The first of them took place on January 12, 2025 under the leadership of Hungarian coach Gergely Vincze, holder of a UCI Level 3 license. The new two-day format of the workshop includes not only the theoretical and practical part, but also training blocks in which Czech riders can participate. Further workshops will take place on January 26, 2025 with the French trainer Damien Ethalon, on February 23, 2025 on the topic of mental preparation of riders and on March 2, 2025 with the Spanish trainer Alejandro Alcojor Ramos. Administrativa On January 12, 2025, the first of four coaching workshops organized by the BMX Commission of the Czech Cycling Association took place. This workshop welcomed as its guest the Hungarian coach of the national team and the Slovenian development team Gergely Vincze, who holds the prestigious UCI Level 3 coaching license. The event took place as part of an initiative to support the education and development of coaches working in Czech BMX clubs. Structure of the workshop: theory, practice and discussion Each of the workshops was originally planned as a one-day event, but is now expanding to a two-day format. Under the auspices of the BMX Commission, the visiting foreign coach will have the opportunity to lead two separate training blocks, in which, in addition to the coaches, Czech riders will also be able to actively participate. They will thus get a unique opportunity to train directly under the guidance of experienced foreign experts. The program continues to include theoretical lectures, practical demonstrations and space for discussion. Objectives and benefits of the workshop The main goal of this educational program is to offer coaches from Czech BMX clubs inspiration and new perspectives on training approaches. At the same time, emphasis is placed on the possibility of comparing the working methods of Czech trainers with those practiced by their foreign colleagues. Considerable attention is also paid to the overall system of functioning of our sport in the national and international context. During the workshop, Gergély Vincze shared his rich experience from working with elite and young athletes and presented his coaching approach to achieving sporting success for his wards. He also gave the workshop participants an insight into the functioning of the BMX discipline in Hungary and Slovenia as a whole and their system of sport organization and support. In addition, the newly included training blocks will allow Czech riders to practically try out the training approaches and methods of the invited foreign coaches. More workshops planned The series of workshops continues on January 26, 2025, when long-time French trainer and former elite rider Damien Ethalon will be a guest, who will focus on the technical and conditioning aspects of training, but also on the overall training approach in general. Another interesting workshop will take place on February 23, 2025 and will focus on the mental preparation of riders, which is a key area for managing psychological pressure and motivation in a racing environment. On March 2, 2025, the Spanish national coach Alejandro Alcojor Ramos, who was also a long-time elite rider and member of the Spanish national team, will be the guest of the workshop. He will bring his perspective on rider training, including the methods used in the Spanish national team, which is known for its emphasis on rider versatility. Registration and other information Information about these workshops was sent to the managers of individual BMX clubs in the Czech Republic. The workshops organized by the BMX Commission of the Czech Cycling Union represent a unique opportunity for Czech coaches and riders to expand their knowledge, get inspiration from foreign experts and raise the level of preparation of Czech riders to a higher level.
